Contract Type: Research engineer position (80%), initial 2-year contract with possibility of permanent contract after successful evaluation. Salary according to Entgeltgruppe 11 TV-L.
Main Description: The successful candidate will develop and apply AI-based image analysis and optical sensing approaches in plant disease ecology. The position sits at the interface between scientific programming, machine learning, image analysis, and plant disease experiments.
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- Strong background in scientific programming, AI-based image analysis, machine learning, and data management
- Experience with large image datasets, image analysis pipelines, and training/validation of machine learning or deep learning models
- Experience with RGB, multispectral, hyperspectral, thermal infrared, or 3D/LiDAR image data applied to biological systems, preferably plants or plant diseases
