Main Description:
This doctoral project focuses on the upland longjaw galaxias, a threatened freshwater fish found in dynamic braided river environments. The research will investigate how these fish persist in changing river systems and which ecological factors are critical for their survival and conservation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with Department of Conservation scientists.
Requirements:
- Master's degree or equivalent academic preparation
- Relevant academic background in aquatic ecology, conservation biology, or environmental disciplines
- Strong interest in freshwater ecology and conservation
- No prior professional experience required
- NZ$32,650 per year tax-free stipend
- Full university tuition fees covered
- Research expenses covered
- Collaboration with Department of Conservation scientists
