Main Description:
The GEMM Lab at Oregon State University's Marine Mammal Institute is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the GRANITE project (Gray Whale Response to Ambient Noise Informed by Technology and Ecology), funded by the Office of Naval Research. The successful candidate will conduct multidisciplinary research on the bioenergetics and ecology of gray whales, with a focus on analyzing accelerometry data and acoustic/behavioral data collected from suction cup tags. The project investigates the effects of environmental and anthropogenic stressors on gray whale populations, combining field data collection with advanced analytical approaches.
Requirements:
- PhD in a life science discipline completed within 3 years of the start date
- Strong background in wildlife bioenergetics and accelerometry data analysis
- Proficiency in R programming
- Demonstrated capacity for both independent and collaborative research
- Data management and visualization skills
- Competitive stipend

- Position funded for up to three years, subject to satisfactory performance
