Main Description
This technician position involves responding to marine mammal and sea turtle strandings and wildlife emergencies along the Georgia coast. The role provides equipment maintenance and operational support for coastal wildlife conservation projects, including research on sea turtles, marine mammals, and shorebirds. Responsibilities also include supporting terrapin, sea turtle, and North Atlantic right whale management operations such as photo-ID, biopsy sampling, and whale disentanglement.

Requirements
  • Wildlife Technician 1: High school diploma or GED AND one year of work experience in natural resource management or a related skilled trade.
  • Wildlife Technician 2: Associate's degree or equivalent (60+ semester hours) in Wildlife Management or related field, OR high school diploma/GED AND two years of experience as a Wildlife Technician 1.
  • Preferred: Experience with marine mammal/sea turtle emergencies, motorized vessel navigation, necropsies, data entry/GIS, wildlife equipment maintenance, and education/outreach activities.
