Contract Type: Field contract (renewable)

Main Description:
The Field Research Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all research activities at JGI Spain's study sites in southeastern Senegal. The position combines field team management, project coordination, logistics, administration, and data management focused on the conservation of threatened western chimpanzees.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in biology, primatology, evolutionary anthropology, wildlife conservation, or related fields
  • At least 2 years of field work experience in remote areas, preferably in Africa
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Survey 123
  • Previous experience with camera trapping
  • Knowledge of satellite image analysis with GIS
  • Excellent French and English language skills (oral and written)
  • Willingness to learn a local language (Pulaar)
  • Good physical and mental fitness
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Analytical capacity
  • Strong social skills and leadership
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments and sensitivity to cultural differences
