Tortugas! INTERNSHIP/ VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The Turtle Hospital is accepting applications for the fall term Internship/Volunteer Program beginning August, 2005. The program is open to students and non-students over the age of 18 and will involve all aspects of The Turtle Hospital. Duties will be caring for sick and injured sea turtles, involvement in the Guided Education Experience program including shadowing the program and providing gift shop assistance, attending public outreach events, assisting with surgeries, cleaning of rehabilitation tanks, working on educational displays, working with open and closed water systems, assisting with rescues and releases.
Please note: you may or may not be involved with all the above listed duties; participation depends on the needs of the hospital during the time of your stay.

Work Requirements:
*All applications must be received by June 30, 2005
*Must be able to stay for a minimum of 3 to 6 months
*Job will be physical - involves lifting heavy objects such as turtles and cases of frozen food, cleaning tanks, getting wet, the summer will be hot!!! Must be able to tolerate working in heat.
*Must work at least 5 days a week

Living/Housing:
*Housing will be provided - you may be housed with one other person
*This is not a paid position
*Transportation will not be provided - if flying you must find own way to and from airport and local transportation during stay - having a car is highly recommended if you want to visit other areas of the Keys during your stay

Any University accreditation must be coordinated by the student through his/her school. The Turtle Hospital will provide validation of participation upon completion.

*Amount of time you would be able to stay, along with the dates
*Letter of reference (must be from non-relative)
*Proof of Health Insurance
