Oferta compartida por Nuria

The Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung (SGN) is a member of the Leibniz Association and is based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. SGN conducts natural history research with more than 800 employees and research institutions in seven federal states. Within SGN, the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) explores the interactions between biodiversity, climate, and society.

Within the DFG research unit “Kilimanjaro Social Ecological System (Kili-SES)” the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (SBiK-F) invites applications for a Scientific Data Curator (full time position).

We are seeking a data curator (m/f/d) to manage the database of an interdisciplinary DFG research unit “Kilimanjaro Social Ecological System (Kili-SES, https://kili-ses.senckenberg.de/)”. In this project, which extends that of the previous KiLi research unit, natural and social scientists are working together to investigate the interactions and inter-dependencies between people and nature at Mount Kilimanjaro under land-use, climate, and governance change. The successful applicant will establish and manage the project database, set and maintain data standards within the project, and aid researchers across the project in locating, processing and publishing data.

This work will be conducted as part of the ‘Synthesis’ sub-project of the research unit and will be conducted in close cooperation with Prof. Dr. Katrin Böhning-Gaese, PD Dr. Matthias Schleuning, Prof. Dr Thomas Müller of Senckenberg BiK-F and others, including Prof. Dr. Markus Fischer of the University of Bern.

Tasks to be performed include:
  • Establishment, development and curation of the project database (within the BEXIS2 system)
  • Transfer of older data to the project database
  • Scientific data quality control
  • Data publication in scientific journals
  • Assistance with data analysis and scientific paper publication in scientific journals
  • Preparation of synthesis datasets
  • Formation of data and meta-data standards and post-processing of meta-data
  • Supervision of data transfer within and beyond the Research Unit
  • Handling and registration of paper and project proposals
  • Data policy implementation and checking
  • Scientific computation support for PhD students
  • Training of project members in data standards and management
  • Compliance with reproducible science principles (e. g. R script publication)
