Ocean Infinity is seeking a Senior Benthic Ecologist/ Ecotoxicologist to join the Environmental Department.

The Environmental Department engages with a variety of stakeholders and undertakes studies in assessing marine habitats using remote sensing methods (multibeam and side scan sonars) and ground-truthing equipment (drop-cameras, ROVs and seabed sampling tools). The results are then presented in reports, charts, and GIS. The reports commonly form an essential part of our clients’ Environmental Impact Assessments.


The role will primarily report to the Deputy Environmental Manager.



Description and Main Purpose of the Job

What will you do: Plan the survey with the different stakeholders in line with national and international regulatory requirements;
Fieldwork may be required 3-4/ year;
Process, and present data from environmental studies;
Lead the identification and assessment of ecological conditions/ habitats;
Lead the integrating of results from other disciplines e.g. geophysics, hydrography, and chemistry;
Engage in developing sampling equipment and procedure with the technical solutions department.


Who you are:Minimum of 5 years of experience in species identification of marine benthic invertebrates from the North-East Atlantic;
Experience in the treatment of environmental data in statistical models;
Good practical experience with office tools: MS Office, Google Drive, Teams, and e-mail, among others;
Strong understanding of quality management such as standards, regulations and applicable policies and procedures;
Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken, as this is our main language within Ocean Infinity.

Desirable: Degree qualified to BSc level or equivalent in marine biology/oceanography/marine technology discipline;
Knowledge of European marine legislation and various national legislation concerning protected habitats and species;
Arc GIS or AutoCAD experience;
PRIMER, R’, or MATLab experience;
Extensive species identification skills.
