Main Description:
PhD position investigating how phenotypic plasticity contributes to evolutionary adaptation during cave colonization, using Mexican cavefish (Astyanax mexicanus) as a model system. The project will combine field work, organismal biology, molecular techniques, and omics approaches to explore both proximate mechanisms and evolutionary factors of adaptation.
The position offers access to the Institute's facilities, including a dedicated Astyanax mexicanus facility with animal caretaker support. Research will be conducted in a collaborative English-speaking environment.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Biology or related field
- Proficiency in English
- Strong interest in evolutionary biology
- Preferred experience: NGS analysis, statistics/R, wet lab skills (staining, imaging)
