Main Description:
Okala is seeking a Senior Consultant with expertise in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and biodiversity for mining, energy, and infrastructure projects in Central Africa. The role involves technical leadership of biodiversity workstreams, design of baseline survey programs, critical habitat assessments, and development of Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs) and Biodiversity Management Plans.
Requirements:
- Master's degree or higher in ecology, environmental science, environmental engineering, natural resource management, or a related field
- At least 5 years of professional experience in environmental and social consulting, with a minimum of 3 years leading biodiversity components in ESIAs
- Demonstrated experience in ESIA or biodiversity studies for mining, energy, linear infrastructure, or comparable industrial projects
- Knowledge of international standards: IFC Performance Standards 1 and 6, Equator Principles, EBRD PR6, World Bank ESS6, and AfDB ISS
- Hands-on experience in critical habitat assessment, mitigation hierarchy application, and biodiversity action/management planning
- Proven track record supervising multidisciplinary technical teams
