Main Description: American Bird Conservancy is seeking a Founding Software Engineer to design and build a cloud-based biodiversity monitoring platform that supports conservation projects. The platform will store and analyze wildlife recordings, automate biodiversity analyses, and support conservation decision-making. The role involves integrating machine learning, cloud infrastructure, and close collaboration with scientists and conservationists.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related science field
- 3+ years of experience developing production software
- Experience designing software architecture and cloud applications
- Proficiency in Python or other backend languages
- Experience with APIs, databases, and data-intensive applications
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with version control, automated testing, and CI/CD
- Strong ability to solve complex technical problems
- Communication and collaboration skills to work with scientists
- Authorized to work in the US
- English proficiency
