Position Title: Communications Officer

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity to join two international wildlife conservation organizations working in close association.


Organizations:

Conservation Planning Specialist Group (CPSG): The species planning arm of IUCN’s Species Survival Commission, providing expertise for species conservation planning globally.

Amphibian Ark: Established to address the worldwide amphibian extinction crisis, working towards securing a future for threatened amphibian species.

Position Overview:

Location: Fully Remote

Appointment: Full time

Time Allocation: 40% on Amphibian Ark work, 60% on CPSG work

Reports to: Chair of CPSG, Executive Director of Amphibian Ark

Salary: Commensurate with experience and job location


Primary Duties:

The Communications Officer will be responsible for the strategy, management, layout, and delivery of external communications, including social media, press releases, newsletters, websites, subscriber emails, and Annual Reports. Additionally, coordination of a new Amphibian Ark communications strategy and internal CPSG communications.


Position Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Creative, energetic, and positive personality
  • Ability to translate scientific information into informative/educational material
  • Passion for conservation with a working knowledge of current threats, IUCN Red List, etc.
  • Experience with publishing software (e.g., InDesign, Canva, Scribus)
  • Website updating and management experience (e.g., WordPress, Weebly)
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (preferably Mailchimp)
  • Strategic understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Sensitivity to cultural and language differences in a global work environment
  • Exceptional proficiency in English

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Broad understanding of both in situ and ex situ conservation
