About Rewilding Europe 

Rewilding Europe is at the forefront of large-scale nature recovery across 10 (soon to be 15) landscapes across Europe. Our mission is to make Europe a wilder place. We have set ambitious targets for demonstrating large-scale rewilding on the ground. From these showcases, we aim to scale up rewilding all over Europe. With a fantastic and diverse team of experts and passionate colleagues from all over Europe (34 fte in the Central Team and around 100 fte in our Landscape Teams), we are committed to driving the rewilding movement forward. 

Role 

We are seeking a Communications Manager with a focus on visual storytelling to document and highlight Rewilding Europe's field efforts and impact, ensuring our visual stories engage and inspire key audiences across various platforms. This important role emphasises storytelling through multimedia formats - such as video, photography, and other visual content - and the development of a network of talented external content creators to support this. 

Positioning in the organisation 

Reports to the Director Engagement and Public Relations. Collaborates closely with the other Communications Managers and other members of our European Engagement team. 

Main responsibilities 

• Visual storytelling and content creation: Develop compelling visual narratives, including (short) films, animations, and photographic stories, to highlight the impact of Rewilding Europe's efforts in the field. Ensure visual content effectively tells the story of rewilding and engages key audiences, while conforming to the highest quality standards. • Documentation and content capture: Coordinate and manage the documentation of key field actions. Oversee photo and video missions, including the contracting, briefing, and management of external content creators, to capture impactful visuals. • Network and contract management: Build and maintain relationships with photographers, videographers, producers, editors, and other content producers. Manage contracts, briefing and oversight of deliverables to ensure the supply of high-quality content that aligns with Rewilding Europe's storytelling objectives. • Content library management: Organise and maintain Rewilding Europe’s image and footage databank, ensuring easy access and proper use by all stakeholders. • Collaboration with communications team: Work closely with the Engagement team including other Communications Managers to develop strategic visual content that supports Rewilding Europe’s messaging and outreach. 

Key qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (communications, visual storytelling, design, etc.); • At least 5 years of experience in content creation, storytelling, video productions, or related communications skills; • Proven experience in delivering well-performing (visual) content for a wide variety of applications with measurable outcomes • Proven expertise in using digital tools to maximise engagement; • Knowledge of (online) video and visual design trends; • Skilled in video production, visual content creation , photo editing and knowledge of graphic design tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and/or similar. • Full proficiency in English (read, written, and spoken) is required. 

Remuneration 

• Rewilding Europe is a professional and dynamic organisation with a friendly working culture. We offer competitive salaries, reflecting your background, expertise, level of experience, and country of residence. 

• The position is graded in salary scale 8 with the salary structure of Rewilding Europe ranging from scale 4 to scale 11.

About the Role

Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT) is looking for a highly motivated communications expert in a full-time role of Conservation Communicator. This role will largely entail developing quality written content for different mediums including publications, social media, and website. This position will require engaging closely with WCT’s project teams and making frequent field visits to project sites. WCT’s Communications team is driven by the larger conservation goal of creating awareness, disseminating knowledge, and popularising science that includes but is not limited to WCT’s scientific research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting scientifically robust and easy-to-understand content – long/medium/shortform – for website, internal and external publications, and social media.
  • Liaising with field teams for information and regular updates. This will include field visits to WCT’s project sites.
  • Assisting the Head of Communications in planning and developing communication strategies and outputs.
  • Working with the team’s Social Media expert to develop effective communication strategies.
  • Contributing towards management of internal and external communications.
  • Assisting with proofreading/editing project reports, proposals, press releases, etc.
  • Working with the team to organise online campaigns and events.

Qualification, Experience & Other Preferred Criteria
  • At least 1-2 years of English writing and editing work experience in the science communication and/or conservation sphere.
  • Strong science comprehension skills.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with travelling and interacting with the field teams.
  • Basic photography and videography skills or open to developing the said skillset.

Trabaja en el Pirineo informando a los visitantes de un parque natural

Buscamos personal, para informar y acoger a los visitantes del espacio natural, con capacidad de comunicación y empatia.


Responsabilidades

  • Garantizar la buena acogida y una información activa a los visitantes del espacio natural, haciendo énfasis en la importancia de los valores naturales y culturales del espacio y las restricciones asociadas para una buena conservación.
  • Informar sobre las buenas prácticas para garantizar una visita responsable con el mínimo impacto posible. En el caso de que haya usuarios que no estén haciendo un uso correcto del espacio, informarles sobre cómo deben actuar y, si persisten, informar a la persona coordinadora de los servicios.
  • Comunicar a la persona coordinadora de los servicios, en el menor tiempo posible, las incidencias que puedan surgir durante el desarrollo del servicio, para que esta pueda evaluar la necesidad de intervención por parte de los cuerpos de seguridad.
  • Cuando el protocolo lo establezca, contactar con cuerpos de emergencias a través del 112 y notificar la situación al responsable del espacio natural y a la persona coordinadora de los servicios.
  • Actualizar diariamente la información, teniendo en cuenta tanto las alertas oficiales de Protección Civil (NEUCAT, INFOCAT, etc.), como los avisos del Plan Alfa y la información periódica sobre incidencias y eventos (estado de las pistas forestales, avisos de batidas, actividades organizadas...).
  • Entregar a los visitantes, según necesidades, material informativo sobre el espacio natural.
  • Recoger los datos de los visitantes e incorporarlos al aplicativo establecido.

  • Graduado Educación Secundaria (ESO)
  • Experiencia en actividades de información y/o educación ambiental en los últimos 3 años
  • 25h de formación sobre espacios naturales

ABOUT YOU:

The Communications Coordinator will leverage the Sustainable Forestry Initiative’s (SFI) brand positioning across all communications and marketing efforts, with particular emphasis on drafting social media content and writing articles. The ideal candidate has bilingual English/French professional communications experience (though this is not a requirement to apply) researching and drafting content across a variety of platforms, for a variety of audiences; the ability to effectively plan and meet deadlines; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; and an interest in sustainability, natural resources conservation, forestry, and/or environmental education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Written Communications for SFI, PLT, and PLT Canada (75% of role)

  • Outline, draft, and edit social media
  • Outline, draft, and edit blogs and articles
  • Create and promote campaign sharing toolkits
  • Draft, edit, and update webpages in WordPress
  • French translation skills for quick responses on social media, proofing resources, coordinating translations with consultants, etc.

Project & Relationship Management (15% of role)

  • Lead biweekly social media meetings, proactively sharing agendas, recapping notes and action items.
  • Manage relationships with videography and advertising consultants
  • Share meeting notes and coordinate project deliverables and deadlines with staff and stakeholders via email and Asana
  • Support partner and advertising research

Advertising & Metrics Reporting (10% of role)

  • Support the creation, launch, and reporting of social media (Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn), web, and newsletter advertising
  • Reviewing and analyzing platforms to identify key metrics and trends (email, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Support metrics collection for fact sheet and webpage updates

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will not initially have direct employee supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical requirements include ability to work from a desk at a computer for prolonged periods of time; occasional lifting/carrying of up to 10 pounds. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions.

This position requires occasional travel to the US and Canada, up to 15% of time.

WORK LOCATION:

This position is open to individuals working throughout the Canada and the continental U.S. Employees located withing commuting distance of the SFI offices in Washington, DC and Ottawa are required to work from the office 2-3 days per week, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays as designated in-office days.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Sustainability, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional writing experience (paid or volunteer), preferably nonprofit communications
  • Demonstrated professional writing skills or portfolio
  • French language skills a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience tracking and reporting analytics is a plus (Google Analytics/GA4, Sprout Social, Google and Bing Search Advertising, etc.)
  • Content Management Systems (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) familiarity, (particularly WordPress and Salesforce) preferred
  • Graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop and/or InDesign) a plus
  • Digital advertising experience a plus
  • Photo/video production experience a plus
