Prácticas en foto-identificación de ballenas francas del Atlántico Norte - Center for Coastal Studies, Provincetown, MA, USA - $15/hora + alojamiento - Deadline 4 septiembre 2026

Main Description:
Seasonal internship with the North Atlantic Right Whale research program. The intern will participate in research cruises as a vessel observer and primary photographer, collecting behavioral data and photographs for individual photo-identification.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree completed or in progress, preferably in biological or environmental sciences
  • Prior experience in marine mammal surveys, including species identification and photo-ID of large cetaceans
  • Experience with digital SLR cameras
  • Basic computer literacy (Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
  • Experience working on boats
  • Not prone to severe seasickness
  • Ability to work well in a small team
  • Enthusiasm for learning research methods
Benefits/Conditions:
  • $15/hour

Trabajo en conservación y educación marina a bordo de un ferry

Location: English Channel – Newhaven-Dieppe route (onboard DFDS ferries)

Main Description:
ORCA is recruiting a seasonal Ocean Conservationist to work onboard DFDS ferries crossing the English Channel. The role alternates between two ships and combines marine conservation education with scientific data collection.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering lectures and workshops to ferry passengers on marine conservation
  • Conducting wildlife watches to record sightings of whales, dolphins, and porpoises
  • Guiding and inspiring passengers to engage with ocean conservation
  • Collecting vital survey data on cetaceans in the English Channel

Requirements:
  • Fluent in both French and English
  • Enthusiastic and confident communicator
  • Ability to inspire others about marine conservation

Voluntariado/prácticas con cetáceos en Portugal (alojamiento + manutención)

Asistente de investigación en cetáceos - AIMM - Algarve, Portugal - Mayo-Noviembre 2026 - Alojamiento y comidas incluidas - Voluntariado

Location: Algarve, Portugal

Organization: AIMM (Marine Environment Research Association)

Contract Type: Volunteer position (May-November 2026)

Main Description: Cetacean research assistant for fieldwork during the summer season. The assistant will supervise interns, participate in data collection, and be responsible for ensuring data accuracy according to AIMM's established methodologies.

Requirements:
  • Minimum age 21 years
  • Fluency in English (mandatory) and Portuguese (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience with cetaceans and/or marine sciences (mandatory)
  • Full driving license valid in the EU (mandatory)
  • Experience in team leadership and group supervision
  • Motivation, responsibility, organization and attention to detail
  • Kind, patient and tolerant personality

  • Training in species identification, data collection methods, photo-identification, acoustic monitoring and GPS/camera equipment
