Job Description

As a Senior Biodiversity Specialist within Mirova’s Sustainable Development Research team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Expertise Development: Build and maintain comprehensive expertise in biodiversity issues, covering both terrestrial and marine environments, and enhance impact analysis and ESG methodologies across various sectors.
  • Policy and Roadmap Development: Create and evolve Mirova’s nature and biodiversity policies and impact methodologies in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Data Integration: Collaborate with partners to refine the integration of biodiversity data into Mirova’s tools across all asset classes.
  • Representation: Act as Mirova’s representative on biodiversity topics in client and institutional settings, and contribute to publications and reports like the TNFD and LEC 29.
  • Advocacy and Partnerships: Promote biodiversity initiatives through collaborative networks such as TNFD, FfB, SBTN, and more.
  • Internal and External Collaboration: Work closely within Mirova’s expert community, fostering excellence, impact, and collective action.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Higher education with at least 5 years in biodiversity or sustainable development roles. Experience in responsible investing, ESG analysis, or sustainable consulting is ideal.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with ESG standards and sustainable development frameworks such as SDGs, CSRD, and TNFD; proficiency in research, analysis, and project management.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics clearly.
  • Language: Proficiency in English (C1 level).

We’re looking for an engaged, proactive individual to join our team which combines talent in digital marketing and science communication with the aim of uniting the research ecosystem, scaling our growth, and establishing us as the gold standard for university-industry matchmaking.

The role involves producing content across a range of channels and formats to communicate the latest academic research to industry and best practices for collaboration between the two. You would join the company at an exciting time of growth, presenting an opportunity to make a mark within a rapidly-growing start-up and to progress through the ranks as the company develops.


Key responsibilities
Global challenges programme – coordinate and communicate our global challenge campaigns which aim to unite researchers across the academia-industry ecosystem to collaborate addressing critical research challenges such as COVID-19 and plastic sustainability
Webinar programme – manage our online events which aim to surface current research challenges and best practices for university-industry collaboration, including engaging with stakeholders in academia and industry, and creating content and dissemination campaigns to drive engagement with the programme
Content pipeline – manage the production, editing, design and dissemination of content including blogs, case studies, white papers, and editorials
PR – writing news releases, feature articles and working with external support to secure high-quality, relevant news pieces
Social media – managing our social channels to disseminate content and engage with our audiences across academia and industry
Messaging, brand, and audience profiling/segmentation – ensure all communications are aligned with our brand vision and targeted to the right audience segments
Email – leveraging our email channels and creating content for regular bulletins and engagement campaigns
Digital creative assets – creating visual graphics and flyers
Multimedia – creating video and audio format content to repackage and communicate key messages from our content programme
Surveys – create and run surveys for the research community to inform developments and generate insights for content
Evaluation + reporting – analysing content/campaigns to assess whether they met their objectives and provide recommendations for development
Insight – keep in-tune with the latest developments in research, innovation and communications and feed new opportunities and relevant developments into our workflow

Postdoctoral Researcher

MKO Research is a non-profit, independent section of MKO dedicated to conducting scientific research to address gaps in knowledge on the interactions between wildlife and wind energy developments. Lying at the interphase between industry and academia, the research group is based in the private sector and hosted by MKO (a 60+ employee specialist environmental and planning consultancy) and has links to academia through active collaborations with several universities.

MKO Research is seeking to recruit a researcher at postdoctoral level with a PhD in ecology or conservation to conduct desk- and field-based studies on the interactions between hen harriers and wind farms in Ireland. Specific research topics will include analysis of hen harrier spatial ecology and territory occupancy. Work will be open access and peer-reviewed publication driven, as the aim is to conduct research that will advance wildlife-wind energy knowledge and that can inform environmental policy. The position is initially for 12 months, open to extension on review.
