Title: North East Eradication Officer, Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels

Status: Full time (35 hours/week); Fixed-term until 31 March 2026

Salary: £23,500 - £25,000 per annum

Location: Inverdee House, Torry, with anticipated flexible working throughout Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire

The Role:

Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels (SSRS) is a project to deliver the essential protection measures required to secure the long-term future of red squirrels in Scotland and to ensure that systems are put in place to continue the delivery of these measures over the long term by working with other agencies with a stake in native species conservation and invasive non-native species management.

The North East Eradication Officer will contribute to the implementation of a programme of targeted grey squirrel monitoring and control aimed at complete eradication of grey squirrels from Aberdeen, in accordance with the Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels project plan.

Primary responsibilities include the recruitment, training and support of landowners, partners, and volunteers to conduct rapid response monitoring and the delivery of innovative methods to systematically detect and remove grey squirrels in Aberdeen.



The successful candidate will:

be highly committed to the complete eradication of invasive grey squirrels from Aberdeen, with the ability to maintain motivation even when faced with challenges of an extremely low density population.


enjoy working as part of a diverse and dynamic team on a pioneering conservation project, and enjoy working with volunteers, landowners and members of the public.


understand the scientific method and be confident working to scientific protocols.

be a troubleshooter with a willingness to adapt and learn new skills whilst supporting innovative methods to achieve eradication in an urban area.

Project Officer, Marine, São Tomé & Príncipe


Location: Santo Antonio, Príncipe, São Tomé & Príncipe
Salary: EUR 26,846
Contract period: Fixed-term until 31 August 2026

Fauna & Flora and FP are working with a consortium of partners to strengthen the conservation of the unique marine biodiversity of São Tomé & Príncipe. Funded by the Blue Action Fund, Rainforest Trust and Oceans 5, the project’s overall goal is to establish a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) across São Tomé & Príncipe using a co-management approach. We are seeking a qualified Portuguese-speaking candidate to join the project team to support the delivery of this exciting and ambitious project. Employed directly by Fauna & Flora and under secondment to FP, you will be based on the island of Príncipe.

You will contribute to island-wide conservation activity with a particular focus on MPA establishment and community co-management. The role will support the delivery of the project through provision of administrative and technical support, while also enabling the FP team to further develop their skills and knowledge in marine conservation. The post would be ideal for someone with excellent organisational and communications skills and experience in marine ecology and biodiversity conservation.

A collaborative team player, you will enjoy the challenges of working in a dynamic team located in a remote environment, where teamwork, resilience and creative approaches and thinking are required to deliver project activities. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant discipline and experience working in remote and challenging environments are expected. In return, the role offers the opportunity to work in an exciting and complex seascape within two ground breaking and entrepreneurial organisations who are at the forefront of marine conservation.
