Descripción del Trabajo
Se busca un técnico de laboratorio especializado en cultivos celulares, biología y bioquímica molecular para trabajar en el desarrollo de terapias no invasivas y bioingeniería enfocadas en enfermedades asociadas al envejecimiento y la neurodegeneración. El puesto combina gestión de laboratorios de cultivos celulares con trabajo experimental en modelos animales y análisis histológicos.

El candidato seleccionado tendrá acceso a tecnología avanzada y podrá ampliar sus habilidades en bioingeniería, además de contar con oportunidades para networking, conferencias y solicitudes de becas.

Requisitos y Experiencia

Criterios esenciales

  • Grado en ciencias de la salud o FP en técnico de laboratorio.
  • Experiencia en genotipado y manejo de colonias de modelos animales transgénicos.
  • Conocimientos en qPCR, diseño de primers, e inmunohistoquímica (ELISA, Western blot, etc.).
  • Experiencia en cultivos celulares primarios y líneas inmortalizadas.
  • Capacidad para planificar, organizar y priorizar el trabajo, con atención al detalle.
  • Habilidad para trabajar en equipo en un entorno académico y asumir responsabilidad individual.

Criterios deseables

  • Licencia A-C para trabajo con animales en España.
  • Experiencia con modelos neurodegenerativos in vivo y en estudios de conducta animal.
  • Conocimientos en secuenciación y trabajo con cultivos 3D in vitro.
  • Experiencia con microscopía y software de cuantificación de imágenes (Fiji o similar).
  • Experiencia en análisis estadístico y metaanálisis, y en presentación de resultados en congresos.

Se busca candidato/a para un puesto de ayudante de investigación (técnico) en el marco de la línea de investigación "Peroxisomas y homeostasis metabólica" bajo la dirección del Dr. Pablo Ranea-Robles, en el Centro de Investigación Biomédica de la Universidad de Granada.

Proyecto

El laboratorio del Dr. Ranea-Robles investiga el papel de los peroxisomas en la homeostasis metabólica, una función aún poco explorada a pesar de su posible impacto en la salud metabólica. El trabajo se realiza tanto in vitro (células) como in vivo (ratones), modulando la función peroxisomal para estudiar su efecto en la homeostasis metabólica. Se emplearán técnicas de biología molecular, biología celular, bioquímica y fisiología. El grupo cuenta con colaboraciones locales, nacionales e internacionales, ampliando la red de contactos del candidato/a.

  • Duración: Contrato indefinido (37.5 horas semanales), asociado a proyectos financiados. Los primeros 6 meses serán de prueba, conforme a la normativa de la Universidad de Granada.

The Center for Cooperative Research in Biomaterials (CIC biomaGUNE) launches the 2024 Summer Research Program, to provide undergraduate students the opportunity to have an insight into the institute’s research activities and to conduct research within an international scientific environment.

Under the supervision of a group leader or a senior member of a research group, students will carry out a short research project, in addition to receiving training. During their stay, students will have access to suitable laboratory space, equipment, and research supplies. They will work alongside pre- and post-doctoral researchers and receive training at the highest levels, also by participating to CIC biomaGUNE seminars.

A maximum of 6 internship positions will be awarded in 2024.

The program runs for a total of 8 weeks during the months of June, July, and August (starting on the 1st of the month) The call is open to undergraduate students of any nationality.

The University of Lisboa and FCiências.ID (Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento de Ciências) are opening a call for of a Research Technician with a Master Degree within the scope of the project GeneticBarriers: Interactions between reproductive isolation mechanisms (Ref. 2022.03475.PTDC).

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and transfer of populations of spider mites within an experimental evolution project. The work plan will involve:
  • Maintenance and transfer of population of spider mites;
  • Conducting experiments to estimate fitness of spider mite populations and experiments to test mating choices in spider mites;
  • Growing plants to rear spider mites;
  • Laboratory management, specifically ensuring orders, management of consumables and reagent stock, ensuring the maintenance of laboratory..
Applications can be submitted by candidates of any nationality a master degree (MSc) in Biological Sciences or equivalent areas.

Skills and competences

  • Demonstrated experience in the maintenance of laboratory populations or behavioural assays (required)

Genomics laboratory support technician (3 year position)

We are looking for a person with experience in a genomics laboratory (minimum 2 years) to work under the supervision of the head of the genomics unit. The successful candidate must be organised, motivated, curious and eager to learn.

The tasks
  • Applying, within the framework of an established protocol, the techniques for the preparation, characterisation and sequencing of nucleic acids; 
  • Performing routine molecular biology experiments (nucleic acid extractions, high molecular weight DNA extractions, PCR, multiplex PCR, quality control of nucleic acids, construction of DNA/RNA libraries for high-throughput sequencing); 
  • Compilation and management of the results of experiments; 
  • Participation in the technical training of other users; 
  • Scientific and technical support to users of the Centre;
  • Participation in the purchase of material, maintenance and management of the laboratory; 
  • Carrying out systematic checks and adjustments of equipment; 
  • Ensuring the application of health and safety regulations.
The team 
The Balearic Biodiversity Centre (www.centrebaleardebiodiversitat.uib.es), at the University of the Balearic Islands gathers a team of researchers, technical staff, facilities and equipment whose motivation is the generation of knowledge about the rich natural environment of the Balearic archipelago and its biodiversity, the conservation of reference natural history collections and associated data. The CBB consists of four units: the Genomics Unit, the Natural History Collections Unit, the Data Management Unit and the Training and Outreach Unit. The person recruited will join the Genomics Unit but is expected to contribute to the establishment and development of the CBB as a reference in biodiversity studies, offering multidisciplinary services to the scientific community at regional and national level and being a strong partner in international initiatives.

Qualification requirements and competences
  • Degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or similar
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of techniques frequently used in the Centre (DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, quality control of nucleic acids, construction of DNA/RNA libraries).
  • Organisational skills and curiosity.
  • Ability to adapt an experimental protocol or equipment procedure manual according to the needs of the moment.
  • Ability to convey knowledge orally and in writing.
  • Open personality and ability to interact and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Spanish/Catalan and a sufficient level of English to communicate effortlessly and to understand and write protocols.
  • At least 2 years of laboratory work experience is required.
  • A Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a similar field will be positively considered.
  • Experience as a scientific-technical service to R+D+i groups and/or genetics or genomics laboratories will be a plus, especially previous work with high-throughput sequencing equipment.

Técnico de laboratorio para secuenciar muestras de ADN ambiental

Lab technician (60–100%) with experience in molecular techniques (metabarcoding) in the field of ecology (position for 4–6 months)

You will be responsible and main executive for molecular tasks such as DNA extraction, application of PCR, amplicon sequencing, library preparation for next generation sequencing and beads cleanup within a well-defined project. The project encompasses library preparation and metabarcode sequencing of eDNA samples collected from rivers. You should also be willing to take over some general responsibilities of a shared molecular lab, such as biosafety, organization and data management.

To qualify for this position you have an education as a biology laboratory technician (Laborant/in Fachrichtung Biologie EFZ) or comparable qualifications. You have strong practical experience with metabarcoding techniques and are ideally familiar with working in a clean lab. Prior knowledge of the Illumina platform is an asset. You will be working in an international research environment, hence the ability to communicate and write in English and German is fundamental. You have a high degree of independence, and the ability to identify and solve problems autonomously. You have excellent skills in time management, are detail-oriented, and are a fast learner. You are organized, take care in recording data and documenting processes, and can optimize repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of consistency.

Employment will be through University of Zurich, while the work place will be in the laboratories of Eawag in Dübendorf. You will be associated to a research project led by Dr. Luca Carraro and be part of the research group of Prof. Dr. Florian Altermatt. Research at the Evolutionary and Functional Genomics lab focuses on understanding the genetic and molecular basis of adaptation. Towards this end, we combine -omics approaches, including DNA-seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and Hi-C, with detailed molecular (e.g. in vivo enhancer assays, in vivo CRISPR/Cas9 editing) and phenotypic analyses (e.g. survival analysis, stress-response analysis), to identify and characterize adaptive mutations. More details about our research are available at http://gonzalezlab.eu and melanogaster.eu. We are located at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE), a joint institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona city. Lab Technician/Manager Position

The laboratory technician will be part of a team of two postdoctoral researchers and one laboratory technician, carrying out a research project that aims to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying gene-environment associations in the context of the current global change. The team will identify and characterize gene-environment associations in Drosophila melanogaster natural populations using both bioinformatic and experimental approaches. Whole genome sequences from natural populations collected mainly in Europe, US and Africa will be available at the start of the project, while other -omics datasets will be produced during the course of the project.

The laboratory technician/manager will be responsible for general wet-lab duties, including DNA/RNA extractions, PCRs, running gels, DNA cloning, as well as fly stock maintenance. The lab technician/manager will also be involved in project management duties such as contacting vendors and placing orders, as well as management of the citizen science project, associated with the research project, including communication with teachers and policy makers, and organization of meetings and events. The laboratory technician is expected to participate in lab meetings and to help train new lab members.

  • Graduate studies or PhD in Evolutionary Biology, Genetics, or similar fields is desirable.

Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Position

The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a team of two postdoctoral researchers and one laboratory technician, carrying out a research project that aims to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying gene-environment associations in the context of the current global change. The team will identify and characterize gene-environment associations in Drosophila melanogaster natural populations using both bioinformatic and experimental approaches. Whole genome sequences from natural populations collected mainly in Europe, US and Africa will be available at the start of the project, while other -omics datasets will be produced during the course of the project.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for:
  • the bioinformatic analyses of the project including the identification of genetic variants, both SNPs and transposable element insertions, in all the genomes available; 
  • ChIP-seq and RNA-seq analyses; 
  • the identification of gene-environment associations across space and time (seasonal and across years); 
  • the analysis of the environmental variables most relevant for adaptation; 
  • and the analysis of the candidate genes identified, among other related tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A PhD in Evolutionary Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or similar fields is required. 
  •  Good programming skills, good organizational skills and good writing and oral communication skills are required.
  • Experience with variant calling, whole-genome scans for population differentiation, and available tools to identify gene-environment associations, such as BayPass, are desirable.
  • Experience with high-performance computing or use of clusters (SLURM) is desirable.
  • Previous knowledge on Drosophila melanogaster and transposable element biology is desirable.

Wet-Lab Postdoctoral Position

The team will identify and characterize gene-environment associations in Drosophila melanogaster natural populations using both bioinformatic and experimental approaches. The postdoctoral researcher will be in charge of generating RNA-seq
and ChIP-seq samples from natural D. melanogaster populations. The researcher will also be responsible for carrying out in vivo enhancer assays and in vivo CRISPR/Cas9 editing to test the functional role of the genetic variants identified. further details.

The College wishes to recruit a Research Technician to support the work of Bonnie Fraser. The successful applicant will be integral to a quantitative genetics experiment using guppies (Poecilia reticulata); organising and monitoring fish breeding crosses, phenotyping fish, molecular laboratory techniques (e.g. DNA extraction), and day-to-day management of the lab.

Perfil del Puesto

El candidato/a será un miembro fundamental del equipo participando tanto en el procedimiento de procesado y secuenciación de muestras y análisis de datos ómicos (genómicos, transcriptómicos y metagenómicos)

Funciones a desarrollar

Preparación de librerías para NGS (Illumina e Ion Torrent)
Procesamiento de muestras biológicas de pacientes para la extracción de ADN, ARN, proteínas y su posterior análisis con diferentes técnicas de biología molecular.
Integración y análisis de resultados de diferentes aproximaciones ómica

Caracterización de muestras mediante técnicas de biología molecular (qRT-PCR, ddPCR, NGS, WB, IHQ).
Búsqueda de aberraciones genéticas en muestras biológicas de pacientes (sangre, líquido pleural)
Marcaje y análisis de tejidos parafinados a través de la plataforma GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler.
Realización de pedidos y otras labores de gestión del laboratorio

Se valorarán los siguientes méritos:

Experiencia investigadora en el ámbito de la secuenciación masiva y de la bioinformática con conocimientos en R aplicados a análisis de expresión diferencial, análisis de datos de NGS, manejo de Linux/Unix, así como, conocimientos en lenguajes de programación como Python.

Conocimientos avanzados de estadística.
Experiencia en integración de datos ómicos y variables clínicas.

Experiencia previa en centros de excelencia científica o centros de investigación asociados a hospitales en colaboración con equipos investigadores.

Experiencia demostrada en el procesamiento de muestras biológicas (tejidos, sangre y otro tipo de biopsias líquidas).

Experiencia en técnicas de biología molecular (extracción de ADN, ARN y proteínas, PCR, RT-qPCR, Western Blot).
